The automotive industry has come a long way since its inception in the early 60’s and has now developed into a major industry in Malaysia. It has gone from importing to manufacturing and exporting as well as designing of cars.

Since independence in 1957, there were very few vehicles on the road and most of these were British or European made. However the mid 60’s saw the importation of Japanese made vehicles and this lead to a boom in the automotive industry.

Equipment for tyre servicing was then lacking and Newera Equipment Supply Sdn Bhd was set up in 1968 to fulfill these needs. Initially, Newera concentrated on equipment for tyre retreading and tyre servicing sectors. The first unit of Tyre Changer – the US made Bisman (Bishman).

In the 80’s, Newera acquired the Cemb (Wheel Balancers), Peerless (Engine Analyzers), Yamada (Lubrication Equipment), Yasui (Automatic Car Washing Machines), This era also witnessed the evolution of analog display wheel balancers and wheel aligners to the digital display system.
